This is not an arcane planning fight. BART's arrival into the South Bay is happening, and projects approved now will affect the way the station areas function for decades. A similar debate has swirled over the San Jose Flea Market, near where that city's first BART station is coming in a few years. The Bumb family has begun to sell off land to KB Home, and some urbanists would like more commercial space and higher density housing than appears to be developing.
