Limited Good is Killing Bay Area Housing

Why David Campos’ narrative on market-rate housing isn’t helping anyone in the Mission — least of all those who need the most help

A lot of politicians, activists and lobbyists are playing on public fear of displacement with what may seem to some like an easy answer: don’t build any more new housing. In reaction to the growth spurt, a number of Bay Area cities have proposed moratoria on housing construction. Two such plans, in Emeryville and Walnut Creek, have failed, but efforts remain on the table in Foster City and in San Francisco.
