CPUC in More Hot Water Over Different Kettle of Fish

Taxi groups in particular have alleged that private "ex parte" communications between commissioners and their staff and players in the smartphone transportation booking industry appeared to have decisively influenced key commission actions in favor of those companies. "Ex parte" communication is exactly what's gotten the CPUC into hot water regarding PG&E.
The issue has come to a head in the "ride sharing" matter because Peevey recently backtracked on an earlier proposal he made to compel such disclosures after requests for such reports from San Francisco MTA and Airport officials, the California Airports Council and various taxi groups. An email to Peevey's office Friday got no response and a CPUC spokesman referred a reporter to Peevey's written submissions.
As it happens, the state Attorney General's office served a search warrant at the CPUCThursday as part of an investigation of so-called ex parte communications between Peevey, Commissioner Mike Florio, senior PG&E officials and possibly others.
