Gatot Nurmantyo ("Billy") was previously Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army, a post he was appointed to on 25 July 2014 by President Yudhoyono, replacing Gen. Budiman. He has also served as Commander of the front-line KOSTRAD command. Suharto had been the first commander of KOSTRAD when he took power in Indonesia.

Gen. Nurmantyo is also the current chair of PB Forki, the Indonesian Karate Federation. 55 years old, he is from Tegal in Central Java.
