C3 Conference Continues Discussion Between Chile, California on Sustainable Development

“C3 is an excellent opportunity for us to learn from each other about the challenges we have as a society,” Ernesto TreviƱo, general director of the Universidad Diego Portales’ Center of Comparative Policy on Education, said.

“For example, California has a long history of school accountability, which you see through standardized tests, but it has little experience looking into the market to finance education. Chile, on the other hand, has more than 30 years of experience using market systems to finance education but little experience with educational accountability,” he explained.

“These kinds of complementary experiences can help us learn about the strengths and weaknesses of educational policies.”

C3 officially began in 2012 as a collaboration between Chilean students based in UC Davis, Stanford, and UC Berkeley.
