'"I find myself in a difficult position," Transportation Secretary Brian Kelly told the members of the state Senate Transportation and Housing Committee,
noting that some of the accusations against Caltrans and bridge project
officials go back six years, well before he took his job in 2013.
Kelly
said he had told the CHP to investigate whether bridge officials
retaliated against engineers who criticized work on the $6.4 billion
span and whether they violated the state Public Records Act in allegedly
hiding evidence of problems.'
