Three developers who have accused the city of pulling a bait and switch – Boston Properties, Hines and Golub & Co. – did not cast a vote in the election. Eight Transbay property owners had a say in the election, which ended last week.
Those developers could still be mulling a lawsuit. If they do pursue one, they would have to wait until the so-called Mello-Roos tax district was enacted before doing so. A lawsuit would threaten or delay skyscraper construction and the $2.6 billion plan to extend the rail tracks from the Caltrain station at Fourth and King streets to the new Transbay Transit Center, which has been hyped as the "Grand Central station of the West."
Officials from Boston Properties, Hines and Golub did not return requests for comment. Boston Properties and Hines are building the Salesforce Tower. Hines is constructing 41 Tehama St., and Golub is behind Transbay Block 6 at 280 Beale St.
